Rungstrom Machine Installations is the core service of Rungstrom Engineering Solutions — and the field where we have the deepest experience. We specialise in the specification, procurement and execution of machine installations for demanding industrial environments, with particular depth in aluminium melting and casting plants.
Our strength lies in combining technical insight with hands-on project experience. We know the equipment from the inside — and we know what goes wrong when it is not specified correctly, when the supplier delivers late, or when commissioning overruns. We use that experience actively to protect our clients’ projects against the classic pitfalls.
We have completed projects for major Scandinavian and international OEMs in automotive and pharma across more than five countries — including giga foundries with capacity of up to 4 tonnes of liquid aluminium per hour, multi-site projects in the USA, China and Europe, and GMP installations in pharma. Regardless of size and geography, we bring the same methodical approach to every project.
Our services
Four specialist areas — all backed by real-project experience under international requirements.
Aluminium furnaces & casting equipment
We manage the entire chain from technical specification and vendor selection to FAT, installation and commissioning of melting and dosing furnaces for aluminium foundries. We have direct experience from giga foundry projects with capacity of up to 4 tonnes of liquid aluminium per hour, and we know the international equipment manufacturers and their strengths and weaknesses. This gives our clients a significantly stronger decision basis — and fewer unpleasant surprises during execution.
HVAC, ventilation & filtration
Ventilation and air cleaning in foundry and machining environments impose very specific demands: high temperatures, metal dust, fumes and strict regulatory requirements. We design and execute HVAC systems with EU BREF compliance, BMS integration and a focus on energy optimisation. We have worked on ventilation systems for mega foundry projects to the most stringent international standards — and we bring that experience to every project, large or small.
Støtek furnaces — service & specialist support
As a former Støtek project manager, we have in-depth technical knowledge of Støtek melting and holding furnaces — from day-to-day operations and troubleshooting to major upgrades and documentation packages. We offer specialist support to operators of Støtek furnaces who need advice on maintenance, spare parts or optimisation — whether the equipment is new or has accumulated many operating hours.
Process equipment & utilities
Beyond the machine installations themselves, we advise on the ancillary systems that are critical to operational reliability and efficiency: cooling water systems, hydraulic installations, compressed air supply, gas supply and industrial utilities. We ensure that the process equipment integrates correctly with the building, the supplies and other systems — and that the documentation is in place for commissioning and regulatory approval.
How we work
A structured approach from first specification to documented handover.
Technical pre-analysis & specification
We start by understanding the project from the ground up: production targets, existing infrastructure, regulatory requirements and programme. On this basis we produce a technical specification that is precise enough to form the basis for a credible tender — and flexible enough to handle the changes that always come.
Vendor selection & contract negotiation
We run a structured tender process, evaluate bids technically and commercially, and advise on vendor selection based on experience with the relevant manufacturers. We ensure that the contract covers the technical requirements — and that the vendor understands what is expected.
Design review & progress meetings
During the design phase we follow up on vendors’ technical solutions, attend design reviews and ensure that equipment and plant fit the building, foundations and supplies — before steel and concrete are cast.
FAT — Factory Acceptance Test
We plan and execute the factory acceptance test at the vendor’s premises. FAT is the critical checkpoint before equipment leaves the factory — and this is where we catch the errors that would otherwise cost weeks on the installation site. We prepare test protocols, lead the review and document results.
Installation, SAT & commissioning
We coordinate the on-site installation, carry out the site acceptance test and support commissioning until production is running stably. We deliver a complete documentation package and ensure our client has everything they need to operate and maintain the plant going forward.
