Aluminium furnaces — service, installation and assembly
We carry out the physical work — from installation of new furnaces and mechanical assembly to emergency breakdown service and upgrading of existing plants. With our own engineers and a network of specialist subcontractors.

Rungstrom Engineering Solutions carries out service, installation and assembly of industrial aluminium furnaces — with our own engineers and a network of specialist subcontractors we know and have worked with on real projects. We coordinate everything: planning, execution, documentation and handover.
Our strength is the combination of technical depth and hands-on execution experience. We have not only specified aluminium furnaces from a desk — we have stood on the floor during installations, coordinated assembly teams on international projects and solved the problems that always arise when theory meets reality. That experience means we see faults before they become expensive.
We work on all makes and are independent of furnace suppliers. Whether it is a new installation, a planned upgrade or an emergency breakdown, we arrive with the right team and the right competencies — and we do not hand over until the plant is running as it should.
Our services
Four specialist areas — executed with our own engineers and trusted subcontractors with documented experience from demanding industrial projects.
Installation of new aluminium furnaces
A successful furnace installation begins long before the first steel column is set. We manage the entire process from technical preparation and coordination with the building and utilities, through mechanical erection, connection and commissioning — and we hand over the plant with a complete documentation package.
What we bring to a new installation is the combination of engineering expertise and execution experience. We know the classic pitfalls: foundations that do not match, connection flanges that deviate from drawing, manufacturer assembly instructions that do not reflect site reality. We handle them professionally and efficiently.
- Coordination with building, foundations and utilities prior to installation
- Mechanical erection and levelling of furnace body and peripheral equipment
- Connection of gas, hydraulics, cooling water and compressed air
- Commissioning, performance optimisation and operator training
- Complete documentation package: as-built drawings, test protocols and maintenance manual
Emergency service & breakdown repair
An unplanned production stoppage on an aluminium furnace is critical. Every hour of downtime has a direct cost — and in many foundries there is no buffer in the production schedule to absorb long service wait times. We prioritise reactive service and aim to have engineers on their way as quickly as possible.
We diagnose quickly, organise the necessary competencies and spare parts, and carry out the repair efficiently. Our technical background means we do not simply address the symptom — we identify the root cause and ensure the same fault does not recur two months into production.
- Rapid fault diagnosis — on site or remotely based on operational data
- Repair of burners, refractory, hydraulics and mechanical components
- Coordination of spare parts and specialist resources
- Documentation of fault, root cause and work carried out
- Recommendations for preventive measures to reduce the risk of recurrence
Assembly & mechanical execution
We carry out mechanical assembly of aluminium furnaces and associated peripheral equipment — either as part of a complete installation project or as a standalone assembly service for clients who manage other coordination themselves. We provide our own assembly engineers and can supplement with trusted subcontractors for larger tasks or tight schedules.
Our assembly teams work in a structured and documented manner. We follow approved procedures, report continuously and escalate deviations to the right decision-makers — rather than improvising and hoping no one notices.
- Assembly of furnace body, covers, rails and transport equipment
- Installation and adjustment of burners, nozzle systems and air supply
- Erection and connection of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Mechanical integration with casting machines, dosing systems and conveyor systems
- Continuous assembly documentation and final report
Upgrade & retrofit of existing furnaces
Many aluminium furnaces currently in operation have untapped potential — either because they were never optimally commissioned, because technology has advanced since they were installed, or because operating conditions have changed over time. A targeted upgrade can extend the furnace’s service life, reduce energy consumption and significantly improve product quality — at a fraction of the cost of a new installation.
We assess existing plants and identify the upgrades that deliver the best return on investment. We then plan and execute the retrofit — typically in connection with a planned maintenance shutdown to minimise production losses.
- Technical assessment and potential analysis of existing furnace installations
- Upgrade of burner systems to modern low-NOx or recuperative burners
- Retrofit of control systems and instrumentation
- Replacement and optimisation of refractory lining
- Integration of new peripheral components: dosing equipment, fume treatment, BMS
How we work
A structured approach from initial review to documented handover — whether the task is planned months in advance or needs to be resolved tomorrow.
Technical review & scope definition
We start by understanding the task precisely: furnace type, make, operational history, existing documentation and the requirements for the finished result. For planned projects such as installations and upgrades, we prepare a detailed work description and schedule. For emergency service, we are on our way while gathering the information we need.
Resource & materials coordination
We assemble the right team for the task — our own engineers and subcontractors — and ensure that the necessary materials, spare parts and specialist tools are on site when work begins. Waiting time on site due to poor preparation is not part of our delivery.
Execution with continuous documentation
We carry out the work according to approved procedures and document continuously — deviations from plan are reported immediately and handled professionally. Our clients know the status at all times and do not need to call to ask whether things are on track.
Commissioning & functional testing
Installations and upgrades always conclude with systematic functional testing and commissioning. We verify that the furnace delivers the specified performance — temperature accuracy, capacity, energy consumption — and we correct any deviations before we leave site.
Documentation package & handover
We deliver a complete documentation package: as-built drawings, test protocols, service report, spare parts list and maintenance recommendations. Our clients should have everything they need to operate and maintain the plant going forward — without having to call us to find out what was actually done.

Technically grounded execution — from first bolt to running production
We are engineers who execute — not project managers who send tradespeople out and hope for the best. That means we understand what we are installing, identify deviations that will cause problems later, and make the right decisions on site.
We work on all makes and are supplier-independent. Our network of subcontractors has been selected on the basis of documented experience — not random internet searches.
- Our own engineers with hands-on experience from international furnace projects
- Trusted subcontractors with documented specialist competence
- Technical understanding of what we install — we spot faults before they become expensive
- Structured documentation from start to handover
- Independent of furnace suppliers — we work in your interest
- Available quickly — reactive service is part of our DNA
Service, installation and assembly as part of Rungstrom Machine Installations
Execution of service, installation and assembly on aluminium furnaces is a natural extension of our core machine installations service. We have carried out furnace installations for major Scandinavian and international OEMs in the automotive industry — in countries including Slovakia, the USA, Germany, China and Sweden — and we bring the same methodical approach and technical standard to projects of all sizes, including at Danish manufacturing companies.
We are a lean organisation with low overhead and high expertise. Our clients pay for specialist competence and practical execution — not for coordination layers and administration systems. We respond within one working day and are ready to come to your plant, whether it is in Denmark or elsewhere in Europe.
